During the colonial war, biological weapons were widely used in various regions of southern Africa. However, there are few records of this dimension of the war, which in addition to human victims, had a devastating impact on the ecology. In the performance ‘Insurrection/Resurrection’, a report drawn up in the 1960s during the colonial war in Angola will be read out, denouncing the use of these weapons. During the reading, a body wanders around the space and ends up writhing frantically at the barbarity revealed in the report. In the second act, a video will be shown which, in addition to the colonial military aggression, also illustrates the mobilisation of the African liberation movements.
Durante a guerra colonial, armas biológicas foram amplamente utilizadas, em várias regiões da África Austral. No entanto, existem poucos registros sobre essa dimensão da guerra, que além de vítimas humanas, tiveram um impacto devastador na ecologia. Na performance “Insurrection/Resurrection”, será lido um relatório elaborado na década 60 durante a guerra colonial em Angola, que denúncia o uso dessas armas. Durante a leitura, um corpo deambula pelo espaço, e termina contorcendo-se freneticamente perante a barbarie que revela o relatório. No segundo ato, será projetado um vídeo, que além da agressão militar colonial, ilustra também a mobilização dos movimentos de libertação africanos.
