Grounded Soil is a one-day workshop/performance with Sónia Vaz Borges and Aderbal Ashogun, and a lecture/discussion with Ruth Wilson Gilmore on abolition as emancipation in rehearsal, thus connecting the struggles for liberation, and land rights.
"Treading on soft ground" (“Pisar a terra suave”) considers the way we walk and the footprints and traces we leave on the ecosystems and ecologies of the earth, and the struggles we wage here. This workshop aims to use the deep soil as a starting point to explore the garden, decolonizing the land from the relations between “foreign” human subjectivities (i.e. indigenous peoples, migrant communities, and racialized people), the land seen as the Other. The aim is to think of the soil/land beyond geographical limits, incorporating its element of resistance and as a fugitive guide.

Grounded Soil é um workshop/ performance de um dia com Sónia Vaz Borges e Aderbal Ashogun, e uma palestra/discussão com Ruth Wilson Gilmore sobre a abolição como emancipação em ensaio, ligando assim as lutas pela libertação, e os direitos da terra.
“Pisar a terra suave”, uma forma para pensar a forma como caminhamos e as marcas e vestígios, que deixamos de no ecossistema e ecologia da terra e as lutas que aqui travamos. Este workshop pretende explorar o jardim a partir do solo profundo, descolonizando a terra a partir das relações entre as subjetividades ‘estrangeiras’ humanas (i.e. povos indígenas, comunidades de imigrantes e pessoas racializadas) e a terra vista como o Outro. Pretende-se pensar o solo/terra para além dos limites geográficos, incorporando este o seu elemento de resistência e de guia fugitivo.
